Student resident housing has taken place in the main house as well the second farm house until the flood in 2021 that took the second farm house away. We are on a FEMA-assisted path of flood recovery for rebuilding, as well on a course of code-compliance to bring permitted agricultural dwellings into a designation of permitted dwellings as remote bedrooms. We will then be able to again host a minimum of 12 students for our 2-month resident courses.
In the meantime we continue our work to host our courses online.
As an evolution to our housing we are now in position to model an affordable housing solution through this code-compliance work which can also support students and their families to realize greater housing potential.
As well, we are now working on opening a residence in Kihei, on the south side of Maui, to host some of our graduate students who can then truly integrate the community living practices they engaged in during their time in our courses, and while they take next steps to set up their businesses, or pursue whichever path of growth or stability they have chosen.
